Narcolepsy? I am not really sure if I have this as it has not been diagnosed. In fact I was once told by a specialist that I didn’t have it. Not sure that he specialised in narcolepsy though! However, one of my symptoms is what I call “sudden sleep”. My brain can, sort of cut out and I can find myself asleep or something approaching it with my head on my desk. Read more
Histamine Intolerance! Never heard of it when I was growing up and now it’s all the rage! I was first diagnosed with this condition in 2009 as well as Histaminosis, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome or Disorder and Reactive Arthritis. I have not had the test for Mastocytosis. I didn’t see any point as I react adversely to most prescribed medication that I have tried in the past. I had already realised that I was going to have to make a big shot at changing my condition with diet and lifestyle changes. Back in 2009, I was terrified that I was going to be living the rest of my life in a bubble……
Yes…I have not used shampoo since Christmas when I had my hair shaved off by a very unhappy hairdresser (she didn’t want to do it) as I discovered that firstly, my hair had gone white under the hair dye and, secondly, every part of my face that my dyed hair touched was burning. After my last hair dying (dyeing misspelt at the time but probably near the mark as it was killing my hair!) session at the hairdressers I actually wedged my head in my medical adviser’s consulting room sink trying desperately to get rid of the burning pain! My hair regularly used to fall out in clumps and I developed big bald patches where my scalp shone through. Read more
Fairport Convention are one of my favourite bands. I love watching them perform live and have seen them 3 times this year! LOL. I am a groupie!!! I loved every minute of the Cropredy Folk Rock Festival 2015 and didn’t want to come home! I used to front a rock band, many years ago, and also I sang with a folk duo in my early teens. As soon as I see Fairport Convention perform I am right back there, singing away. My guitar is definitely coming back out of the attic! Not sure why I ever put it away! Read more
I am currently at the Fairport Conventions’s Cropedy Folk Rock Festival 2015 – a 3 day event. Enjoying the fabulous music, the wonderful people and the selection of food! Cropredy Folk Rock Festival is held in a little village called Cropredy near Banbury, Oxfordshire, UK, hence the name, and is the annual event of one of my very favourite bands, Fairport Convention.

I am always being asked what I drink given that I don’t drink tea (as in black breakfast type tea with or without milk) or coffee at all. My Lime and Ginger Tea is my drink of choice early in the morning. Using fresh ginger, fresh lime and hot water – what could be easier? Drinking this, while sitting next to the little pond in my garden in the morning sunshine, is heavenly! I do like my morning “cup of tea”! Read more
I use bananas as a safe sweetener for me as I do not react adversely to them.
When I first started out on my raw foods diet, bananas were an absolute lifesaver as they were one of the few foods I could safely eat. I had severe Histamine Intolerance and I could not find anything much, that I could eat, that did not give me severe adverse symptoms. My “Histamine Bucket” was overflowing and my body was reacting to just about everything. Read more
This little chap looks a sweetie but I am aware even now he has his dark side. It doesn’t take much to turn him into a huge and fire breathing monster.
We create our bodies every day by what we put into them. I do not think I really thought about this over much until things started going very wrong with my body and this simple fact was pointed out to me by my then consultant.
